How the Energy Saving Scheme (ESS) works.

  • The Energy Saving Scheme, also known as ESS, is the NSW government's energy efficiency scheme, available to all residents of NSW. 

 

  • It cuts electricity and gas use by creating financial incentives for households and businesses to be more energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions in the process.  The scheme was established in 2009 under the NSW Electrical Supply Act 1995.

  • The purpose of the offer is to help households replace old lights with new LED lights. The cost of the LED lights and the fee for installation is heavily subsidised.  Currently, the offer targets the replacement of halogen downlights with LED downlights for a minimum cost of just $33. 

​

  • The minimum number of halogen downlights to qualify for this offer is 10, with no maximum number of lights because the subsidies are calculated on the total amount of energy saved. The more halogen lights upgraded to LED the more energy saved.

  • Householders and small businesses can benefit from a range of energy efficiency upgrades in their homes, such as replacing downlights with LEDs. This is called the Home Energy Efficiency Retrofits (HEER) method. More info for householders and businesses can be found here

  • The Energy Savings Scheme can help to reduce your energy bill by installing energy efficient equipment in your home or business.

  • Residential and small business upgrades are performed by businesses and their representataives that are accredited under the HEER method and they may be able to provide discounted energy savings services or products to residential and small business customers.

  • LED Energy Saver is a representative of the accredited certificate provider Freewatts Pty Ltd who is accredited by IPART to replace halogen downlights to LEDs under the Home Energy Retrofits (HEER) method.

  1. Confirm you have the correct halogen globes here that can be upgraded through the scheme.

  2. Confirm you have a minimum of 10 halogens

  3. Call our team to discuss your upgrade and book in your install date.

  4. Start saving right away.
